New Construction Project of the Sports 3 Underground Parking Lot, West Central District, Tainan City (Competition Entry)
This was a competition entry for an underground parking lot and ground-level landscaping, though it was not awarded.
However, regarding the regional history, site environment, surrounding buildings, circulation functions, and design philosophy...
we believe this design project provided a complete and clear response...
Design Concept:
1. "Integrated and Connected Landscape Architecture"
This specific site,
read at the urban level, is situated "between" the interior (Zhonghua West Road) and exterior (residential areas);
observed through its regional function, it exists "between" movement (National Sports Center) and stillness (Living Arts Center);
understood by its spatial requirements, it remains "between" the sky (landscape park) and the ground (underground parking lot).
Within this "betweenness," we utilized
an "integrated and connected landscape architecture"
to respond to the interior and exterior, movement and stillness, and sky and ground.
2. "The Void"
An internalized, permeable atrium and " " that draw wind and light into the subterranean levels,
serving as the
"void" that connects the sky and the ground.
3. "The Path"
Diagonally woven trails and
an expansive, unfolding plaza,
serve as the
"paths" connecting the interior and exterior, as well as movement and stillness.
4. "Greenery and Slope"
Meanwhile,
the undulating green slopes
and the green (energy) roofs—integrating exhaust systems, vertical circulation, and service spaces—
evoke an imagery of the
"green" "waves" that once rippled across the ancient Taijiang Inner Sea.
